Mary Ruth (Wilson) Anderson

Mary Ruth Wilson Anderson, 73, of Kannapolis, went into eternal rest on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Moses Cone Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Mary was born on April 28, 1946 in Chesterfield, SC to the late William Franklin Wilson and Annie Mae Lear Wilson.

In her early career, Mary worked as a hairdresser as well as a store manager for several convenience stores. She worked alongside her husband in their propane business. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, and gardening.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 36 years, Johnny Harvey Anderson of Kannapolis; daughter, Sherita (Glen) Hunt of Franklinville, NC; step-son, Monte (Sherri) Anderson of Salisbury, NC; grandchildren, Anna Poteat and Andrew Poteat; step-granddaughter, Ali Arrington and  step-great grandson Gunner Arrington.

Mary was blessed to have the best nurse, caregiver, advocate and friend to help her through her long illness.  The little girl that made her a Nana, Angel Anna, as she called her, loved her through her illness to the very last day.  The family is forever grateful to her. 

A visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2019 at Whitley’s Funeral Home.
