Johnsie (Deaton) Farmer

Johnsie Deaton Farmer, 77, passed away Saturday morning, December 28, 2019, with her loving family by her side, at Tucker Hospice House, following a period of declining health.

Born November 2, 1942 in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late John Earl and Bernice Donahue Deaton.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Deaton and her sister, Debra Long.

Johnsie had been retired from Cannon Mills, after more than 40 years of loyal service, where she had worked in the sewing department. A long time, devoted member of Genesis Baptist Church, Johnsie enjoyed reading and spending time with her “girlfriends”.  A loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Farmer will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

Family members left to cherish her memory include her husband of 56 years, Dewey Farmer; her daughter, Patty Gothard (Evan); her much loved grandchildren, Erin Honeycutt (Brandon), Rachel Sinden (Richard) and Sarah Gothard (T.J. Schaaf); brothers, Wayne and Ronald Deaton; and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am Tuesday, December 31st at Genesis Baptist Church.  Funeral services to remember and celebrate Johnsie’s life will begin at 11:00 am in the church, conducted by Rev. Gene Edwards, Pastor.  Mrs. Farmer will be laid to rest at Carolina Memorial Park.
