George Dennis Jones

George Dennis Jones, 73, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 13, 2019.

A memorial service will be held to honor George’s life on Sunday August 25, 2019 at 2:00PM at Whitley’s Funeral Home Annex Chapel with a gathering of friends 30 minutes prior to the service.

 George was born on January 1st, 1946 in Cabarrus Co, to the late Sarah Pauline and George Washington Jones. He was a long time area resident and he enjoyed reading, whether it be the newspaper or many books. George was remembered for having impeccable hand writing and was a very organized man. He loved dogs specifically his dog Cody. He was a graduate of A.L. Brown High school class of 1964. George Honorably served his country in the United States Army for four years of active duty and two years in the Army reserves. After his time in service George worked as a successful accountant with Armour Meats for close to 10 years and later retiring from Wachovia Bank with close to 25 years of service. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Wayne Jones of Kannapolis.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Polly Graham Jones, of Kannapolis, NC. and his brother Larry Michael Jones of Kannapolis.
