Edward Woodard Obituary

Edward V. Woodard, age 89, passed away on Tuesday November 26, 2019 at home.

Born on June 14, 1930 in Tioga County, PA he was the son of the late Vernon E. and Grace Bocus Woodard.

During his working years, Edward worked as a furniture repairman. He, along with his late wife, Joan, moved to Concord in 1985 to be part of the racing scene at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He enjoyed woodworking, especially making toy cars and tractors, with an impeccable eye for detail. He loved the arts, drawing and strumming the guitar as two of his favorite hobbies.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Hamilton; and two brothers, Francis and Gerald Woodard

Edward is survived by nine children, Daniel Woodard of Midland, NC; Paul Woodard of Pennsylvania; Beverly Easton of Davidson, NC; Richard Woodard of Elmira, NY; James Woodard of Elmira, NY; Michael Woodard of South Carolina; Bonnie Reid of Davidson, NC; Cynthia Balderson of SC; and Kimberly Woodard of Elmira, NY; twenty-eight grandchildren; sixty-five great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a sister Barbara Long.

A memorial service to honor his life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
