DARREN BURRIS

Obituary: Darren Scott Burris, 51, of China Grove, NC became a part of the greatest celebration he has ever known on Sunday, July 14th, 2019 after a period of declining health. He was born November 10th, 1967 in Concord, NC. His parents were the Late Rev. Leonard Aycock and Rachel Aycock of Concord, NC. Darren enjoyed all things wrestling, his favorites being John Cena and Ric Flair. He also was a huge Carolina Panthers fan. Some of his favorite past-times included watching Gospel broadcast and coloring. Everyone who met Darren loved his joyful, simple, child-like personality. He loved attending church and telling people about Jesus. "I love Jesus...I'm saved" he would say and then point to the cross. For most of his life, Darren was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Concord where his father pastored. After his father's passing, he attended Homestead Baptist Church in Kannapolis with his niece Crystal. Survivors in addition to his mother are: sister Carolyn Harrington(Kannapolis), brother- Jerry Aycock (Concord), niece and full time caregiver for the last 3 years, Crystal Barringer (China Grove), niece, Elizabeth Burris(Mt Pleasant), great nephews, Chase Barringer, Kody Barringer, Robert Burris, and Thomas Burris. The family will be receiving friends Sunday, July 21st 1-3pm at Homestead Baptist Church in Kannapolis. Followed by Darren's Celebration of Life at 3pm. Pastor Mitch Thomas will be officiating. Burial service at West Concord Cemetery immediately following the celebration. The family would like to thank their Homestead church family for their love and support especially over the last several months. Also, with grateful hearts they send appreciation to all his doctors, nurses and their staff, who took such great care of him throughout his life.
