"Sending hugs and prayers to Shelia, Teresa, Kay and family. Gene was a good man and is now reaping his rewards. Just like all of you were a big part of my childhood, so was Gene. Was so glad we reconnected recently and was able to talk to him during his illness. I would hang up the phone and think to myself that he was more of a comfort to me than I was to him. He never once felt sorry for himself....instead he kept praising God the entire time. He often told me whether he was healed or God took him, he was a winner either way. I hope I am only half as strong as Gene....a true man of the Lord. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Rest in Peace sweet Gene...you will be missed."
