Charles Ellis Huneycutt, 78, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Liberty Lane Hospice House, Salisbury VA Medical Center. He had been in declining health and was seriously ill for seven months.

He was born October 22, 1938 in Stanly County, NC a son of the late Alonzo Huneycutt and the late Mattie Eudy Huneycutt. Also preceded him in death was a daughter; Sharon O’Neal, son; Donald Huneycutt; brothers, Don, Pete, Renn and sisters; Lucille and Inez.

Charles was of the Baptist Faith. He retired from Duke Power with twenty years of service. He was a member of Allen-Graham Masonic Lodge #695, Cabarrus Shrine Club, Scottish Rite Bodies, Charlotte Valley, and Oasis Temple in Charlotte. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during Desert Storm. He was a life member of VFW Post 8989. He was an avid outdoorsman; enjoying fishing and camping.

Family members left to cherish his memory are his wife of 26 years, Joyce Pittman Huneycutt, daughter, Kim Cluttz (David) of Enochville, son-in law, Steve O’Neal of Enochville, step-daughter, Amy O’Daniel (Jamie) of Kannapolis, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by three sisters, Nancy, Hilda and Jewel and one brother, Bud.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 14, 2017 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Gene Edwards. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the Cabarrus County Honor Guard and masonic rites conducted by Allen-Graham Lodge #695. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30-2:00 P.M prior to the service.
