Obituary:
Frankie Lee Hamby Sr., 72, of Salisbury passed away, Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Continue Care Hospital Pineville.

He was born August 12, 1944 in Tazewell, VA to the late Carl Lee Hamby and Beatrice Seals Lisles.

Frankie was a retired lieutenant from the Kannapolis Police Department and in 1981 he was police officer of the year. He was the first sheriff’s deputy to serve on Lake Norman. He was a member of the Allen Graham Masonic Lodge 695. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Frankie loved fishing and especially fishing at the Outer Banks.

He was preceded in death by two brothers John and Roger Hamby.

Those left to cherish his memory, his wife Linda Law Hamby, son, Frank Lee Hamby II (Olga) of Matthews, daughter Wendy Bunton of Lincolnton, step-son Richard Law Jr. (Jennifer) of Waxhaw, step-daughter Tracy Law of Cabarrus Co., Brother Carl Hamby (Stella) of Kannapolis, sister Dottie Combs (Bobby) of Kannapolis, seven grandchildren, Chryssoula, Constantinos, Panaqiotis, and Amalia Hamby, Matthew (Autum) Johnson, Noah and Makenna Law, great grandson Xander Johnson.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday, May 20, at Whitley’s Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 20, at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Beaver officiating, Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with Police Honors.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
