"Jeffrey I have been down this path with you all the way. I just read through all 220 text messages today since this all began. God has carried you and has been with you this entire journey. We here still on this earth are heavy in heart without your presence and your infectious smile. It says in the Bible that the pure in heart shall be with our lord and walk in the light. You have shared with me on many occasions that the lord was lying with you in your time of pain or was carrying you. Thank you for the time you have shared with me and the fellowship in Christ. You shall be missed on this earth but, we shall take up bow and arrow and go into the field and hunt for our Lord in the Promised Land some day very soon. I Love you Brother."

"Dear Smith family, I am so saddened by Jeff's early departure from this world. He and I were truly as close as brothers. Jeff and I bonded at west Florence high school in the late 80's and became best friends immediately. My thoughts now are consumed with all the memories I have with Jeff. From taking Jeff on his first turkey and deer hunts at Stoney Hill Farm in Darlington, to bass fishing Forest Lake in Florence. I take full credit for Jeff's love of flounder fishing for it was I who took him on his first flounder fishing trip to Cherry Grove years ago and so many more times after that. Jeff will be missed so much by so many. I feel as though a piece of me has gone with Jeff."

"I am so sorry and devestated by the loss of such a great man. I was fortunate to call him my boss for 6 years. He was a wonderful mentor and dear friend. I will miss him terribly. I loved him like a brother. He had the best smile and sense of humor. My heart breaks for the Smith family. I send my deepest sympathy."

"It seems like I have know you guys forever, but we met just a short time ago. I so wish it had been under different circumstances. Jeff had a kind soul, he absolutely adored Emily (and her stuffed animals...lol) and loved you (Krista) beyond words. Jeff will truely be missed, but I believe he will be with you always. Krista, you and Emily and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. With love, Becky. P.S. If you need anything, the staff of 3J will always be there for you and Emily :)"

"Gen.1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over the earth, Gen.1:28 And God blessed them. Jeff Smith was truly blessed. The West Florence Class of 1989 expresses with deepest regret Jeff's passing. He was a fine, Southern gentleman & a friend to us all. After high school, he left his mark on many beautiful landscapes in the Pee Dee area & most definitely, on the Cherry Grove fishing community. Our prayers are with your family during this difficult time."
